DISINFECTION/BACTERIA

types of disinfection

There are a number of ways to disinfect your water.  You could boil, chlorinate, ozonate or use ultra violet.  Each of these methods have a place depending on the amount of water needed, the rate of use needed and your situation.  None of these methods will clarify, remove organic or inorganics from the water.

Boiling will give you limited amounts such as needed when camping or when the municipal supply has been breached.  Chlorination is used by the majority of municipalities in the United States.  This method in excess can be considered a carcinogen.  Also, with chlorine it needs to have extra contact time to be effective.  Ozonation is used mostly in Europe and San Francisco.  This process creates a gas of O3 which is an effective disinfectent.  However, as a gas it tends to escape when exposed to air.  Ultra Violet is performed by passing the water over a light at a predetermined gallon per minute and the bright light kills the bacteria.  CONTACT US.

If you are using a non-potable water supply you need to consider the method that will best suit your needs.  All of these methods are available for in home use.
